Isabel DesRoches, B.Sc

Founder & CEO

Isabel has grown up in recreational and competitive dance, transitioning into dance mom when her 3 daughters were born. Over the years, Isabel's world has grown from a dance-focus to include fitness and jump rope choreography.

Shelby DesRoches

Canfitpro Certified Trainer, Yoga Certified

Lead Competitive Hip Hop, Acro, Jazz, Tap, and Lyrical Instructor

 

Shelby has danced since the tender age of two and began dancing competitively at four years old. Shelby danced competitively for 14 years and competed in and studied ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, acrobatics, musical theatre, lyrical and jump rope.

Shaelyn DesRoches

Sports High School Specialist Major, Jump Rope Athlete & Coach. Dance Instructor and After School Club/Summer Camp head Coach

 

Shaelyn is the newest addition to our teaching team having danced since she was two years old and grew up competing in acro, hip hop, tap, ballet and lyrical. Shaelyn has competed in jump rope since JDFA opened and her team most recently won 2nd place overall at Nationals 2019.

Amy is a 16 time National Champion and Canadian Record holder. 1994 World Double Dutch Champion, Single Rope and Overall World's Champion. She started jumping rope at age 10 and joined Lincoln Leapers competitive team and did over 200 shows a year.

Elvis Malcolm

Competitive Jump Rope Team Advisor

 Canada’s Leading Jump Rope Training Expert and 15X World Jump Rope Champion 

Elvis Malcolm was first introduced to rope jumping through Jui Jitsu. Fascinated with the many possibilities of this simple tool, Elvis went on to become a pioneer and creator of many trademarked and intricate jump rope skills in the Sport of Jump Rope.

Isabel has grown up in recreational and competitive dance, transitioning into dance mom when her 3 daughters were born. Over the years, Isabel's world has grown from a dance-focus to include fitness and jump rope choreography.

 

Isabel has created a number of unique programs incorporating fitness, dance, and jump rope, including her one of a kind "skipndance" classes. She is also launching, for the first time in Halton region - The JDFA Competitive Skipping Team!

 

As team choreographer since 2005 for The Heart & Stroke Foundation Kilbride Tour Team, building a competitive jump rope team became the natural next step.

 

Isabel is passionate about offering children's and adult programs to the local community of Kilbride, Brookville, Campbellville, Milton and Burlington in this unique location at St. George's Anglican Church. She hopes you will come and try a class.

Shelby
Shelby DesRoches

Shelby has danced since the tender age of two and began dancing competitively at four years old. Shelby danced competitively for 14 years and competed in and studied ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, acrobatics, musical theatre, lyrical and jump rope.

 

As Shelby got older she began teaching dance classes. It quickly became obvious that she was a natural teacher and the kids loved being with her.

 

Shelby has been a summer camp dance teacher, acrobatics and skipNdance teacher for 2 years. She has also spent this past year studying with Canfitpro to achieve her fitness instructor certification and yoga certification.

 

Shelby is excited to teach jump rope, dance and fitness classes to JDFA students.

Amy Grimason

In 1995 a founding member of Jump Energy, 1999/2000 a professional rope jumper for Ban Dai Toys and Buddy Lee in Japan performing alongside Elvis Malcolm. Head coach for Brampton Acro Ropers taking a team of 4 to the Worlds in Loughborough, England in 2010 where they placed 1st in Pairs Double Dutch Speed. After taking time off to raise her kids she is thrilled to be back supporting the sport she loves and working with JDFA!

Shaelyn DesRoches

 

A graduate of the Sports High School Specialist Major at Dr. Frank J Hayden SS Shaelyn brings exceptional coaching skills to the dance and jump rope teams, Shaelyn has been competing in dance since the age of 6 and brings personal experience to our younger dancers. 

 

Shaelyn teaches all recreational dance classes and supports our competitive teams with an evolving role as our studio continues to grow.

Shaelyn has competed in jump rope since JDFA opened expanding her skills each year. Her team won Nationals with  2nd place champions rank in 2019 and a title of 2nd place Grand National Winners of their four person freestyle routine.

 

Shaelyn will be very busy working at JDFA and also leading our after school program and  summer camps. 

Elvis
Elvis Malcolm

Elvis Malcolm was first introduced to rope jumping through Jui Jitsu. Fascinated with the many possibilities of this simple tool, Elvis went on to become a pioneer and creator of many trademarked and intricate jump rope skills in the Sport of Jump Rope. 

He has competed in 5 styles of rope jumping, winning over 25 National and 15 World Titles, and performed more than 4,000 shows in 20 different countries. He is recognized as one of the world’s greatest Jump Rope Artists. 

Elvis has worked with many Olympic Athletes in the USA in 25 different sports along with Buddy Lee, using the Jump Rope as an effective sports cross training tool. 

Today he is Canada’s Leading jump rope training expert, bringing more than 25 years of experience in the Sport of Jump Rope, and a proven system for success to our Canadian athletes.
